Former Porirua Mayor John Burke, is Chairman of the Porirua Community Trust, the Mana Community Grants Foundation and the Trust Porirua Charitable Trust. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Hutt Mana Charitable Trust a Director of HMCT Holdings and a Greater Wellington Regional Councillor. He was formerly President of Sister Cities New Zealand, Vice President of the Electricity Association, a Local Government New Zealand National councillor, a member of the Executive of the Gas Association of New Zealand, a member of the National executive of the Charity Gaming Association and served four years as Chairman of the former Hutt Valley Energy Board. John received the Queen’s Service Order for public services in 1989, the 1990 Commemoration Medal for services to New Zealand, is a Justice of the Peace and a Marriage Celebrant. He and his wife Linda have two married sons and live in Paremata.
