This is the Form 1 class that was taught by Brother Joachim in 1957.  50 years have now passed. What has happened to everyone?  Jim Hair and I are endeavouring to compile a complete record of every student.

Although the web site was initially designed to focus on the Form 1 class, largely because it was 50 years ago that we were in that class), Jim and I have extended it to include as many as possible that were part of the wider class at some stage between 1954 and 1963.

Others in the wider class:

Terry Bonisch, Russell Buchanan, John Butler, Bill Cochran, James Cutler, Graham Daly, Norman Daly, Bede Dowling, Ken Dowling, Peter Duggan, Leon Finn, Patrick Hanning, Mike Hope, Bernard Kelly, Peter Keppel, Maurice Kerr, Sam Lawlor, Simon Lowe, John McColl, Michael McNab, Jim McSoriley, Dominic Monti, Kevin Murphy, Mike Newbury, Richard O'Connell, Kevin O'Meara, Kastytis Palaikis, Ron Pascoe, Brett Pearce, Ron Perriam, Tony Phillips, Wayne Robinson, Russell Sinclair, Barry Taylor, Charles Todd, Dave Wyatt.

We have now managed to track down nearly everyone with just a few exceptions. If you are able to provide any information on the remaining ones it would be appreciated. Some of those we have traced have yet to provide a brief biography and/or a recent photo.  My email address is at the bottom of the page.

As we learn details of each person they are being recorded in pages by row. Those not in the Form I class, 1957 are listed under "Others." Where there is an email address listed I have changed the @ to 'at' to prevent the possibility of your emails being hit by spam. There is also a guestbook for you to leave comments and memories.

As well as the class photos I have added various photos of members of the class. Click here to see them.  If anyone has other suitable photographs that they would like to see included here, please email them to Allan.

Class reunion

After surveying former class members it was agreed that we would hold a class reunion at Borland Lodge (near Lake Monowai) over the weekend of February 27th - March 2nd  2009.  A committee was formed in Invercargill under the chairmanship of Bob McLean and they put together an excellent programme. This turned out to be an extremely successful weekend, full of laughter, reminiscing and just great fun. Although many of the participants had not met each other previously (having either left the class or joined it after others had left) everyone very quickly became great friends. This also applied to the wives/partners who attended.

Click on the Reunion link at the top of this page to see details of the programme and lists of the committee and participants. There is also a brief video clip showing some of the activities.

Some of the photos taken at the Reunion can be seen here. (Click on each photo for a larger image or click on "Slideshow" to see all images). It is possible to download any that you want to keep for yourselves. If you have more photos that you would like included please email them to Allan.

A suggestion was made at the end of the reunion that maybe we could organise another one (not as complex as this one) in 2-3 years time. The guestbook would be a great forum to float and discuss any ideas about whether we should go ahead and organise something, where it might be held and the format. Please add your comments/ideas there.

Do you also remember these poems?

"Brother Joachim Dwyer passed away in Auckland during March 2005.   A true West Coaster, he entered his Juniorate in 1941. Later in life he is remembered for his ability as a cabinetmaker.   Every Marist House in New Zealand received an example of his craftsmanship."
(Tuakau 1922-74 News, Notes, Reminiscences. http://tuakau.freehostia.com/).

(Does anyone have a better picture of Br. Joachim?).
